Maxwell D. Taylor (1901 - 1987)
General Maxwell Davenport "Max" Taylor was born in Keytesville, Missouri. He was a United States Army general and diplomat of the mid-20th century. Taylor graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1922.
During his career, Taylor commanded the 101st Airborne Division during World War II, was superintendent of West Point from 1945 to 1949, and was sent to the Korean War in 1953.
Taylor's years of service spanned from 1922 through 1964 and his awards included one Distinguished Service Cross, one Distinguished Service Medal, one Silver Star, one Legion of Merit, one Bronze Star, and one Purple Heart.
